Myles Garrett Battles Through Multiple Injuries

Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett is currently navigating through a minefield of injuries, affecting both of his feet. Fresh off the heels of a re-aggravation sustained during Sunday’s game against the New York Giants, Garrett's resilience is being put to the test with every snap he takes.

An MRI taken on Monday provided some relief, as the results came back clean. However, the path forward remains arduous. Garrett, who had to visit the medical tent during the Browns’ Week 3 loss, worked closely with the team’s trainers before making a brief return to the field. The incident was troubling enough for head coach Kevin Stefanski to classify Garrett's status as "day to day."

Despite the setbacks, Garrett is determined to keep playing. "It's more than just the foot. It's multiple things going on," Garrett alluded, highlighting the complexity of his injury. "If I think the foot's feeling good or feeling better, it's one thing or another. So it's kind of just feeding into each other right now, and nothing's sitting right because nothing has time to heal because I'm leaning on something else and I'm compensating here to make something hurt there. It's just been, like I said, a cycle."

Garrett has seen a notable drop in his snap count this season, participating in only 67.18% of the team's defensive snaps compared to last year's 76.46%. The pain was visibly etched on Garrett’s face as he doubled over and needed help walking off the field during the game against the Giants. Seen limping post-game, Garrett’s physical struggles are undeniable.

Nevertheless, Garrett remains undeterred, putting the focus squarely on the present. "I'm not concerned about something I don't know about. So, get the results and move from there. At this point, I'm going to continue to move as I have and look forward to playing the next game until someone tells me otherwise," he remarked.

With an upcoming matchup against the Raiders in Week 4, the Browns will undoubtedly be assessing Garrett’s condition closely. Garrett hinted at the possibility of needing a procedure further down the line, a prospect that looms over his ambitious plans to continue playing through the pain.

Since the start of the 2021 season, Garrett has missed just one game due to injury, underscoring his commitment to the team. However, as the rigors of the ongoing NFL season continue to press on, the Browns and their star defensive end will need to carefully navigate the challenging landscape of injury management, balancing Garrett's immediate contributions with his long-term health.
